• Question: are there any diseases that cannot be cured or prevented? Or is it simply a matter of time before a field of research will break through?

There are currently a number of diseases which cannot be cured (for example some types of cancer or HIV) but I would like to think that it is possible to cure any disease it is just a matter of what to target and how to do it – thats the difficult bit though and the reason research is so important

      Simply a matter of time.

      I’m an optimist!

Some diseases like cancer may take a very long time to find effective cures and treatments because we currently understand very little about how they work – also there are many different types of cancer (lung, bowel, brain etc), each of which may have completely different treatments.

Hopefully, one day we will have cures or treatments for all the kinds of cancer that are currently known about.
