I did A levels in science because I was good at it at GCSE and then I didn’t know what I wanted to do in the future so I went to University to study science. I found that the subjects that I could study at uni were completely different to what I had learnt in school and when I started doing pharmacology I became fascinated with learning how drugs act on the body. After finishing my degree I carried on to do a PhD in Pharmacology and Neuroscience and still enjoyed what I was doing so I ended up as a scientist

I did some A-levels for science, then I did an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with 1 year of the course spent working for a drugs company. Then I did a PhD in Biochemistry and then I started work as a ‘postdoc’ – just means someone with a PhD. I thought of myself as a scientist since I started doing research which was in 2000 when I started my PhD.
