Hi, if I were lucky enough to win the prize money I wouldn’t use it to develop my research as anything to do with work is covered by financial assistance from the drug company. Many postdocs in research, like myself, are supported by funding from companies or places like the Wellcome Trust (who helps to fund ‘Im a scientist’). The funding each year can be 100,000s of pounds so unfortunately the £500 prize money wouldn’t help the research too much. If I were to win I would like to use the money to make some hands-on exibits do do with explaining how drugs work and the action of drugs in parts of the brain (I love crafting so I have a few ideas of things to make), I would then use these in local schools and science fairs to encourage people to enjoy and understand my area of science research.
