      If I define it as getting paid to do a job, rather than get a qualification, then since 2001. 9 years.

      Since finishing my PhD I have been working as a scientist for about 5 years now, but the PhD is also working and learning to be a scientist too so this would add another 4 years.

      Well I’ve always been interested in science but I suppose starting my degree at university is when I class as the time I became ‘scientist’ so that will be nearlly 10 years altogether now.

      I finished my undergrad degree in science in 2000, then started doing research (which is when I think you’re really a scientist) with my PhD later that year – so about 10 years now.
