Hello, we have been asked by the organisers of ‘Im a scientist’ to use the money for science communication so it wouldn’t have an affect on my research or experiments. If I were to win I would like to use the money to do projects in schools or science fairs to help people understand and enjoy the area of science which I work in (the brain and the action of drugs).
Hope this helps
It is very important that people understand and are happy with what their tax money goes on.
I hope winning this would be a good sign that I can explain my research, and that people approve of it. If I can show that, it will help me persuade the government to fund more of my research. That way everyone’s a winner!
It would mean that I could start to develop an interactive website to provides useful and interesting information to help all kinds of people to understand why the search for non-animal scientific methods is important and how it can be done. It is very difficult to get funding to set up this kind of resource so it could be the only way that I can get the project started.
Well the money isn’t to be used in research and experiments, it’s to help scientists present their work to the general public – like in schools. I would spend the money on getting some materials made to use in schools to explain how parasites cause disease and I would link this to a discussion / debate on how money affects science research
