I don’t speak any other languages, all of the conferences are held in English even if that is not the native language of the country. This means that scientists from all over the world generally use English as a common language

Every conference I’ve been to in whatever country has spoken English, but whenever I travel (work or pleasure) I’d like to be able to speak the language. I learnt french and spanish at school and was never much good, cos I don’t think I really saw the point. But when I found out I loved travelling I got really interested in languages. Cos the university I work at wants to encourage scientists to learn languages I get free Spanish lessons too. With different travels I’ve learnt bits of Dutch, Urdu, but the only stuff I really keep up with is Spanish
