Question: In the movie 28 days/weeks later, there is a rage virus. Do you ever think that something like that could occur in real life or is it just fiction?
There is no evidence that anything like that has ever occurred in the history of life on Earth.
So you have to ask yourself how realistic is it?
Worrying about it is a bit like waiting in your kitchen holding a frying pan ready for when a tennis-ball sized meteor flies through the window. But even less likely than that.
Mass extinctions have occurred in the past, for example the dinosaurs. As far as we know, these extinctions were not caused by viruses but by extreme events (like a huge meteor hitting earth, volcanic eruptions or earthquakes).
Pandemics (an infection that occurs over a large region) have so far not wiped out entire human populations across the planet, although back in history the Black Death had a pretty good go at it!
Lets hope not! but I suppose the symptoms of Rage virus in the movie aren’t a million miles away from that seen in Rabies? I don’t think there is any cause to worry about this eventuality 🙂
I think it’s a great film (I’m a bit of a horror fan) but I think it is a bit far fetched. I think the idea is probably based on a rabies type virus but I’m not sure about everyone turning into flesh eating zombies!

I think things like this come from experiences of rabies
