Question: Is it true that during meditation or contemplation glands in the brain secrete a chemical that helps them live longer? Or has it been studied?
I don’t know enough about this area to give you a full answer however chronic stress has been linked to having a shorter lifespan and meditation is used to relieve stress so in this way meditation might be supposed to help people live longer?
I’m not really sure, I suppose that someone somewhere is looking into it. I would imagine that meditation does release things like serotonin which has effects on mood and other brain and body functions so it will probably help to keep people happy and calm which in turn will make them less stressed so might extend their life a bit.
