      I don’t know any parasites that carry HIV, but they can make the problem worse. HIV causes AIDS which stands for Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrone – it weakens your immune system and so any other infection which you body would normally be able to get rid of or reduce, becomes much more dangerous.

      For example, there’s a parasite called Toxoplasma, which something like a third of the people on the planet are infected with, but it causes no problems – you’d never know you had it. But if one of those people get’s AIDS, then the toxoplasma can start causing problems as well.
