      “Physicists do not know what gives an object mass. The Standard Model of particle physics thinks that mass is caused by the Higgs field. Physicists are trying to find the Higgs field now using the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.”

      I copied that from wikipedia – I’m cheating at my homework 🙂 I hope the teacher doesn’t find out.

      Many people refer to mass as being the same as weight but in science there are different forms of mass. I’m afraid you would need to ask a physicist for a clear definition
