      The main aim of my current research is to identify chemicals which look promising in my laboratory model of learning and memory. So for me whenever a drug is approved for the next stage of drug development based on my results this is very exciting for me.

      I can’t pick one single breakthrough, actually most research invovles lots of smaller breakthroughs – rather that a one big step forward.

      The stereotype of the genius scientist having that Eureka moment is actually quite a long way from the reality of science – sometimes it happens – but in my experience – it is quite rare.

      Probably improving the technology used to fight leukaemia.
