There were lots of things. Mainly my interest in animals and their welfare. I have always been fascinated by animals and wanted to understand how their bodies worked, why they behave in the ways that they do and how they adapt to their environments. I wanted to use this knowledge to help animals in some way. I originally wanted to be a vet but when I was unable to get onto a veterinary course because of the very limited places available, zoology was the most obvious thing to do. I also had a brilliant Biology tutor (who was a zoologist) when I was doing my A-levels who was really passionate about science and made it easy to understand.
