You mean a Doctor of Medicine (MD) rather than a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)?

I wasn’t rich or clever enough to get into medical school 🙂

Would you rather be a mechanic or design new cars?

I think it takes a certain character to be a doctor and I think that I would become too involved with the emotional side of it.

All the stuff I was interested in was the actualy research – being a doctor is more like applying research to help people. Also the things I really get interested in are single cells or molecules within cells – so dealing with a whole human body wasn’t really for me.

When I first went to university I didn’t work very hard so I probably wouldn’t have coped with the course at the time. I am actually studying medicine just now as well as working because I would like to combine a career in medicine with science research.
