• Question: With the new technology coming out everyday, if you were in high school now chosing your GCSE subjects, would you still chose the same subjects and go into the same department as you are in now?

I think yes. The things that you like can keep changing, when you’re 16, 20, 26, 30.

The things I though I was interested in when I first graduated, no longer interest me as much.

I left science completely for a couple of years after my PhD.

So it’s not just about the subjects you take, but where your life goes. People you meet etc.

Yes I think that I would still do the same subjects but with hindsight I might have tried for a third time to get onto a veterinary degree so that I could be a vet now.

I think so – it was the science that I loved, and even with new discoveries, science in schools does keep up – when I visit classes here in scotland, I see things being taught that weren’t tought when I was in school. Also at GCSE you get to do such a variety of subjects which I think is great.

Thats hard to answer, I went into science because I was good at it in school. Apart from having more computer courses I dont think too many of the courses have changed so I don’t think too much would be different if I did my GCSEs now, I would like to have tried harder though.
